Ditzy Diner @ E. Rod

We discovered a new nice-enough hang-out place.  Nice semi-circle couches that look like big jukeboxes.  Below are pictures to entice you to visit.  And you just might see the proprietor’s (?) cousin Jay-Ar.  They accommodate private parties or functions.  And bands play there too.  Call for the schedule.  It’s near the seminary and PETA.  Food’s good (I was hungry) and reminded me of Pancake House.

Good shot 002: Through the fish’s eye

JC was the one who took the first photo. Double exposure with 180-degree turn. Of the camera! =) The second picture is of mom’s aquarium with guppies.  Then the sky from our driveway.  Then my mom sending text to Eat Bulaga!  Then two profile shots of JC.  This roll, we developed 24 out of 36.  So that’s an improvement from the last roll.  Yay!

Good shot 001: Fisheye 2 Lomo

New category! For pictures taken from my old Pentax SLR and my new Fisheye 2 Lomo camera (thanks, JC!). Yay! I won’t post all the pictures developed though but will just choose the best ones to share. The rest will be saved in my multiply account. So without further ado, here are a few from my first roll:

World of Warcraft - Stewey, the Hunter

I hate you, Ronan, for getting me into this game! I hate the trolls and their cave! I hate those things in the mine! Hehehe  But seriously, I hate the 2 days spent downloading and installing this game!  But the game itself is really cool.  I’m a dwarf hunter with some sort of rifle that shoots stones.  Here’s me, Stewey (named after one of my favorite cartoon characters):
World of Warcraft - Stewey, the HunterI’m at level 9 here.  The WoW world is too big, I get tired myself walking around to various quest locations.  I’m afraid I might not be able to stay on long at this game.  I have other things to do (read: play)!  Nah, really I’ve got lots of other stuff to do this year =) but part of that is enjoying some PC games again too.  So, see you in Nagrand!

Oh, and in the game, Ronan is a small girl gnome with boobies.  Hee-hee.

Update (1/24/2010) - After27 levels… I have this rotating disc on my head ha-ha!

The Spa @ Acropolis

Oh, wow.  That was nice!  I think the last massage I got was way back in 2000 or 2001 at Discovery Gym.  I used to have sports massages sometimes after a workout.  Yesterday, I was like a massage virgin again!  Haha!  The masseuse was pretty good.  I got a Shiatsu massage and my shoulder/neck area did have a lot of those “muscle lumps” that needed to be kneaded thoroughly.  Needed to be kneaded.  But one massage can’t get them all out, definitely.  I still feel a little sore but it’s better now.  Could it have been the wii-playing that caused the soreness?  Could it have been the Plants vs. Zombies that caused the slight pain?  =)  Brains!
thespaGo to thespa.com.ph to get to know more about this Superbrand spa.  I think it’s one of the oldest spas here in Manila as I’ve seen this particular branch in Libis years ago…  Anyway, they have several branches aside from the one at Acropolis (in front of Nuvo):  Alabang, Bel-Air, Greenbelt, Podium, Fort, and Trinoma.

The 60-minute massage starts from the legs and feet while one is turned facing down, going up to the back and arms and head. Turning over, the masseuse also does the front side.  It all ends with some sit-up stretching.   Ambiance was nice and dim.  The room was pretty small for an Executive room.  It seemed the left wall could open up to another room (maybe for a couple’s massage session).  The music was a typical long-playing oriental drowse-inducer. A few times during the massage I let out a soft-porn mmm. A couple of times when the masseuse hit a few sore spots a little too hard, I could have also let out a less-soft ouch.  But I didn’t.

After the massage, I rested at the spacious locker room for 15 minutes then proceeded to the wet area. Warm shower then sauna.   Nice!  I miss the sauna. Downside to the wet area: old men walking around naked.  5 minutes in the sauna then I dipped in the big jacuzzi pool.   Cold shower then I walked to Eastwood for dinner.

I think I’ll try massages in other spas and see which one will really blow my stress away.  But for this one, I’d rate my experience at 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Ambiance 4/5
Massage itself 3.75/5
Service 3.75/5
Cost 2.5/5
Wet area/after-massage 3.75/5

Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs. ZombiesVery entertaining.  Nice re-play value.  Go and get it and play now =)

Sidenote: I like the single corn shooters; I hate the big corn cannon; I love the the cat tails =)

The Green (3) - Reminiscule

Whether Vain set 28

Whether Vain set 28

Somewhere, I read the argument (paraphrased) “Why capture memories and be behind the camera when you can be in the mix and making those memories even better?”  Yeah.  Just recently through the magic of Facebook, I was able to reconnect with a college classmate from Ateneo who I will never forget.  I might meet her again in a couple of days at a party and I will tell her what I will be relaying here in this blog now: she told me during an English class wherein I was about to recite in front, “It’s your turn to shine.” I’ve always been shy and content to stay in the background and just work behind the scenes.  I can be not competitive and let others shine while I just be my supportive self.  I have let others waste opportunities that I could have been excellent in.  I’ve mastered controlling my emotions and being too patient and sometimes being too kind.  To a fault?  Am I still that idealistic person my sister describes as not being suited to this world.  (Where am I suited, in another planet or universe?)  The year is about to end and I’m so grateful for everything that has happened, even the hurtful ones, and there have been many this year.  On the other hand, I’ve been blessed with so many new friends who I will continue to try to thank in my own little special way(s) all the time, whenever I can.  So, everyday, there are opportunities to shine- in deeds, in character, as a person, as a friend, as family, as a Filipino (vote wisely in May!).  And be confident that I can be the better person God intended me to be.  I maintain to do what good I can.  And now, maybe let more people know that the future is bright for all of us, if we work for it.  Happy new year to everyone and God bless!  Make everyday worth reminiscing!

Gigi’s Custaroons

What do you get when you put custard and macaroons together?  Anyone?  No?  Anyone?  (channeling Little Britain’s Fat Fighter Marjorie Dawes (spel chek)) No?  Anyone?  No?gold foilAnyone?  No? No, not macatard, you tard!  Custaroons.  Custaroooonsssss.  C’mon say it like there’s some custaroon goodness in your mouth.  Nomyumyumyum.  packagingOk, we open up the smaller box to the left…  They have these cocoa-powder-showered custard balls called Poppers.
poppersToo chocolate-y.  Sinful.  But nice concept.  Still, you won’t be tasting these at the party on Saturday.  What you will see at the table though would be the three flavors of custaroons.  Let’s open a box…
here it comes...Currently there’s Original, Cheese, and Peanut Butter.  I haven’t tasted the PB flavor but I hope it tastes good because that’s what I ordered most of for Saturday.
box of minis, 54It’s not just the bite-size size, there’s the bigger size too if shooting one piece at a time in your mouth is not your thing.  For more information and to order, head to the website custaroons.com/Gigis_Custaroons/Home.html.  Mmm, chewy buttery crust on the outside, creamy custard on the inside…  but these aren’t cockroacharoons ha!

The Green (04) - Changees

whether-vain-set-27-081009-to-090909

The Philippine National Elections looms.  Candidates are coming out of the woodwork.  A hundred presidential candidates?  And that doesn’t include me yet.  I wish!  But I don’t know if I have the constitution for politics.  =)  Everywhere there’s politics, even outside politics.  In school.  At work.  At the playground.  In bed.  Everywhere, I tell you.  Everyone talks about change.  Big changes.  Humongous plans for more change.  Ten years of Gloria Arroyo have contributed little change, I think.  Well, now I am considering leaving the country too.  Before, I was content staying put.  I wanted to stay and help others, the country…  Now, I don’t know. It would take less to convince me to leave.  Still, there’s this need inside to help raise people out of their misery. Unfortunately, I have meager means.  And those who do have weight (of money and power) to throw around have become too heavy to do anything but protect their self-interests.  Take work- people identified to succeed are given the most opportunities to reach their goals, part of which is to push or extend their mentors upwards as well.  In government, children take over their parents’ positions.  And not seeing any positive progress frustratingly progresses negative emotions.  And I don’t want to dwell on that.  What can be solved?  What are the solutions?  Focus there instead.  Small steps.  Small parts.  Maybe that’s why it’s been coined ‘Change’.  But it’ll add up to something big.  Someday.  Sans outside inspiration, look inside and aspire for real change.  In ourselves.  Towards other people.  Little by little the big politicians and conglomerates will fade under the growth of the change we start on now.  With ourselves.  With our values.  With our needs.  Do what good we can.  We can.

Stackers @ Eastwood Citywalk

Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum… For chicken between buns, I recommend Stackers.  They have a newly-opened branch in Piazza in McKinley Hills so that’s a welcome sight in my new site assignment.  Chicken cooked just right (although sometimes it can take a while) and affordable menu items make this burger joint a must-go-to hang-out and snack haven.
headlightsWhile waiting, what else to do but look at the surroundings, make mini-stories, take pictures.  And criticize.  Or praise.  Above: headlights.  I mean, bulbs in upturned aluminum medium-sized barrels you can cut in two to make twice the number of shades for hanging lights.  Still nice.
threesomeMini story #1:  Knife is a guy spoon and fork take home and have a threesome with.  So either fork is a girl or a gay guy.  Or they’re all lesbians.  Or they don’t have to be homosexual at all - remember that doctor from Gray’s Anatomy with his wife and another girl…
spooningAfter the deed’s been done…  oh, knife is still here?  Anyway, let me be corny and caption this with: spooning.
StackableI looooove their chairs!  I want my own.
look at the strawsMini story #2: Ok, look very closely at lemonade and chocolate milkshake…
straws kissingThere!  Lemonade tried to steal a kiss!  Milkshake was quick so lemonade only got a cheek.  Aw.
poster drinkIced coffee.  Looks like Milo on top and milk at the bottom.
evil or peaceThe poster was a little high (or the girl was too short) for the horn-sign to work.  So, peace! =)
