Seen in the Metro 3

Ok, let’s see… there’s this new frozen yogurt place at Shangri-la mall at Edsa.  And wow, do they have lots of flavors! Of course I immediately tried the Peanut Butter flavor. Meh.  Next! Or back to Red Mango!  Then at Central- a drinking place in Makati, they have some interestingly-named appetizers. I didn’t order those. [...]

Gigi’s Custaroons

What do you get when you put custard and macaroons together?  Anyone?  No?  Anyone?  (channeling Little Britain’s Fat Fighter Marjorie Dawes (spel chek)) No?  Anyone?  No?Anyone?  No? No, not macatard, you tard!  Custaroons.  Custaroooonsssss.  C’mon say it like there’s some custaroon goodness in your mouth.  Nomyumyumyum.  Ok, we open up the smaller box to the [...]

Seen in the Metro 2

Shee-toda?  Sheh-toda?  I don’t know what the “She” stands for.  This tricycle runs along Pioneer street in Mandaluyong.  Who thought of using “She” when it could be (mis)read as Shet-oda?  I hope the ride doesn’t stink.
So when you see a sale sign, you take notice.  But if the selection is so few, would you go in [...]

Seen in the Metro

Aspirants to government positions for next year’s elections are becoming quite creative and flagrant in putting their names and faces out there.  Ugh!  It’s so obvious they just want mileage.  They want to be seen and be known.  For what?  For enduring the rains- their faces on their tarpaulins not melting?  Look at this one: [...]

Zahara the Chihuahua

I bought a Chihuahua.  Black.  Female.  9 months old (last month).  At first she was afraid (hmm, sounds like a disco tune) of everything- well, she still is kind of jumpy.  But she’s friendlier now and likes to jump (quite high) and push the other Chihuahua, Heart (who play-bites back).

National Museum in Pictures, Part 2

Ah, the written word…  Filipinos are known to be good English speakers and writers.  But we make mistakes just like other good speakers and writers.  So let’s just not brag about how good we are or poke fun at how less-good others might be.  We can’t even say we’re really good at our own language, [...]

When it rains, it force-

National Museum in Pictures, Part1

One Saturday, we went on a tour of the Philippine National Museum complex.  Mr. John Silva was our guide.  The pictures in this series are nothing compared to actually being there, being led around a maze of halls and objects from antiquity.  This tour is highly recommended!  Here are some details before the pictures:

Jeepney art

I like glancing to my side while driving and seeing these very interesting paintings on the bodies of the Jeepneys.  Various images are drawn by exceptionally talented Jeepney painters.  It’s no different from painting on canvas or paper.  Except these can go around the metro on a daily basis- images of pop culture icons, religious [...]
